The Breeders’ Cup Classic is the highlight of the two day Breeders’ Cup event.
The Breeders’ Cup is open to horses three years of age and older which offers an unparalleled level of excitement for fans. With a 1 mile course and a purse of $5 million, this is the biggest race in Thoroughbred racing.
Due to the race’s large purse, it regularly attracts US and International competitors. Due to this, specific weight rules and restrictions have been placed to ensure a fair field. Horses must be three years old and older to compete and weight rules have been placed for horses based on age. Four year olds and up are required to carry 126 pounds.
