If you’ve been a little embarrassed to try Texas Hold ‘Em because it looks a little involved, fret not. In the piece we will cover enough of the basic rules to get you up and gunnin’ for the big dog in now time.
Because it is not like the traditional “ante poker” people usually are turned off by the little and big blind involved in Texas Hold ‘Em. These can actually be your best friend because there could conceivably be round where you do not have to pay anything to see your first two cards. The blind is an agreed upon amount two players have to pay before each hand. The little blind will pay half the agreed amount and the big blind will pay the full amount. So if the blind is $50, little pays $25 and the big pays $50. The little blind is the player to the immediate left of the dealer and the big blind is to the little blind’s left. As the deal is rotated on to the next player, so are the little and big blinds.

The Atlanta Falcons are off to a fast start this season, and on Sunday used a potent offensive attack to top the Carolina Panthers 28-20 at the Georgia Dome. QB Matt Ryan threw a career high three touchdown passes, including one to his new favorite receiver Tony Gonzalez. The attack was well balanced, thanks in large part to running back Michael Turner who ran for 105 yards and a touchdown.
NFL football betting devotees who invested in the Falcons as -6 home favorites were rewarded with the pointspread cover. The Falcons have won and covered both games this season for a 2-0 record both straight up and against the spread. The Panthers, meanwhile, have dropped both of their 2009 contests straight up and to the number. The 48 combined points scored went OVER the posted total of 42.

Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi completed a 7 yard touchdown pass to Marvin McNutt as time expired, allowing the Hawkeyes to take a 15-13 road win over Michigan State University and preserve their undefeated season. Trailing 6-3 at halftime, Iowa mounted a furious drive after Michigan State had scored to take a 13-9 lead with 1:37 remaining in the game. Iowa moved to 8-0 for the first time in school history for the win, and has won twelve straight games overall.
When you bet on college football you learn that you can’t count your money until the game was over and such was the case here as Iowa even managed to cover the pointspread as they won outright as +2 road underdogs. Iowa improved to 5-2 against the spread while Michigan State dropped to 3-4 against the number. The 28 combined points went UNDER the posted total of 42′. The Spartans have gone UNDER in four of their seven games while the Hawkeyes have played UNDER the total in 5 of 7.

Sometimes you can hear players complain that they simply couldn’t carry the game because somebody “was always raising on the preflop” or “answering before the river” or something of the kind. As a rule, these are inexperienced players who have not yet become aware of the possibility to observe opponents in order to classify them. Not only do they not make their own classifications, but they are unaware of the classic categories of poker player types.
Ignorance of these categories leads to lack of flexibility: the uninformed player is confronted with an unusual strategy and simply doesn’t know what to do. The feels unprepared and is unable to adapt.
The players with experience know that poker is not a game of precise information. It requires improvisation, well-honed instincts, acutely reasoned tactics, and the ability to adapt rapidly to an opponent’s style and peculiarities.

Is a broken leg a blessing in disguise? Well, probably not. But if Doyle Brunson had not suffered one while at work during his college days, he may never have come to be known as one of the best poker players ever. Born in Texas in 1933, Brunson has been playing poker for over 50 years and his name has become a household name.
Brunson had caught the attention of the NBA’s Minneapolis Lakers (now the Los Angeles Lakers.) Sadly, his leg was shattered in two places by falling sheetrock while it was being unloaded at a factory. He spent two years in a cast and realized he probably needed a new career interest. He continued his education, earning his B. A and M. A. Degrees. Additionally, Brunson started his career in poker with the Texas Rounders.
