The next event that an indispensable in causing the rapid expansion of poker was the start of online poker. The original internet poker room was up and running in 1998. People can play poker in the coziness of virtually any place they can imagine. Web based poker action will see steady growth as people learned of these new poker rooms.

This sets the stage for the third development that ultimately led to the poker explosion. So, when Chris Moneymaker wins the WSOP World Championship of Poker in 2003, poker takes off. Gaining his entry by winning a $40 satellite at an online poker site, then winning pokers most coveted tournament, completes the sequence.

The combination of the pocket cam increasing the interest in watching poker on TV, and the rise of internet poker rooms dramatically adding to the player base, had set the stage for the “Moneymaker” effect. Everyone seeing an online, rookie, succeed against some of the best players in the world, poker activity increased dramatically.

This growth produces many opportunities for aggressive entrepreneurs. There are numerous ways to become wealthy in the booming world of poker. Many of these possibilities are online. Let’s name a few of the businesses you can run that involve poker.

Some poker amateurs are now trying to be successful professional poker players. Many people have gotten extremely wealthy finding poker players for the online poker rooms. Books on poker strategy have become big sellers.

People have created software products that help online players in improving their play by using the hand histories in their computer files. People are starting their very own online poker rooms. You can find poker leagues taking place at pubs and bars all over the place.
